This website has been developed by the Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board and Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour. It provides for wider distribution of helpful information and guidelines and includes a library of approximately 1,000 occupational health and safety resources that fall into approximately 70 topics. A CD-ROM capturing this library is also available (last updated January 2003) on request.
WorkSafeSask.ca is only one project under the larger Initiative called WorkSafe Saskatchewan. Because Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour and the Saskatchewan WCB are both committed to improving the health and safety of Saskatchewan workers, they have launched WorkSafe Saskatchewan as an ongoing, shared provincial prevention initiative. Its mission is to prevent occupational injuries and illness by promoting a positive safety culture in Saskatchewan workplaces and by motivating workplace parties to improve their occupational health and safety standards, attitudes and behaviour.
WorkSafe Saskatchewan encompasses prevention promotion, prevention education and training, and the development of stakeholder partnerships. Through WorkSafe Saskatchewan, prevention promotion, education and partnership initiatives will have a common look and message rather than those of the sponsoring agencies. Initial activities include:
Developing and implementing this prevention resource website and in addition, a CD-ROM |
Developing and implementing an advertising and promotional campaign advocating prevention |
Developing and implementing a joint process for the periodic analysis of workplace injury data as a basis for targeting compliance programs |
Labelling Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour and Saskatchewan WCB prevention publications and promotional and educational tools with the WorkSafe Saskatchewan logo as they are printed or updated. |

WorkSafe Saskatchewan operates under the direction of a Steering Committee made up of an equal number of representatives from Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour and Saskatchewan WCB. The committee reports to both the Deputy Minister of Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour and the Chief Executive Officer of Saskatchewan WCB.
WorkSafe Saskatchewan will not encroach on the exclusive jurisdiction of either Saskatchewan WCB in compensation matters, or Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour in occupational health and safety matters. To distinguish publications, educational tools or initiatives that may affect the exclusive jurisdiction of either agency, such as those providing official regulatory interpretations or guidance, a small logo from either Saskatchewan WCB or Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour will also be displayed.
